Life in Mexico

As told by Cap'n Paul

Good morning world! It is an exceptionally clear and warm morning here in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle Mexico.Marvelle and I can see the Sierra Madre Mountains from Puerto Vallarta to Yelapa. Life is good! ...

". . As I drove down the cobble stone street looking into all the open restaurants, all of a As I drove down the cobble stone street looking into all the open restaurants, all of a sudden my car was surrounded by four young  black women talking to me in fluent Spanish.  "Que Pasa" I said as they asked where I was from and told me that I needed to come back tomorrow and take Salsa lessons from them.  My Spanish has actually gotten pretty good and this was an emergency, right?. Anyway, long story short, I'm going back tomorrow and sign up for a six day intensive course."

********

Marvelle gave me a haircut this morning. We had breakfast with a couple from Chicago that live in down town Puerto Vallarta (PV).  They have lived in PV for the past five years. Both are older than us and still working because they want to. We discussed putting together a coop residence in PV. Real nice people. Finally someone older than me. How exciting is this? I was in a parade last Wednesday, La Patron Saint of Santa Cruz Festival. It was a blast!

Marvelle's best friend Lynn is visiting with us in La Cruz for a  week. Five more friends joined us and we all stayed seven days in our rented villa. I'm swimming everyday.  Swim everyday non stop for twenty minutes or get some kind of aerobic exercise. Marvelle goes to the gym four out of seven days.

cap_mexicoNo cartel shootings, no new adventures, no infidelity, but she did give me a haircut!! We're not learning any Spanish because everyone here speaks Ingles!

Marvelle and I went into PV last week. Marvelle found her perfect clothing store. Not good!! We also found yet another great beach in San Pancho, a short twenty minutes drive from our front door in La Cruz.

Marvelle loves driving herself to the gym and shopping. What makes this special is that I have spoken recently to several folks about coming to visit and when I suggest that they put a rental car in their travel budget they say, "no way Jose." The last three people to tell me that were two fire fighters from Portland and a brotha from the SF Bay Area, a retired Muni bus driver who has been coming to PV for the past twelve years. Either Marvelle and I are Mr. & Ms. adventure or the rest of you are just "big chickens." CLUCK!

Due to popular demand Marvelle and I have started a new business here in the greater Puerto Vallarta area. With so many people we encounter (you know who we mean)  wanting to know who we are, and what we are doing here in Mexico, we decided to help them. We started a business, "Meet The Colored Couple", and will charge 300 pesos for 30 minutes for folks to chat with us..  Clever huh?

Stay tuned for more!
